I have decided to put this topic on my blog because I believe it is a big concern, it also is the reason why some cultures cannot seem to love. So my question is why are some cultures so strict? Me, myself my parents are pretty lenient with me, but that is not how it always was. My parents used to be extremely strict with everything, school, friends, boys, with life in general. I felt like I was in jail! So basically I had to look this up and figure out why? What I found out was; it is not just the African tribe that is strict with their society, it is like that with Asians, Middle Eastern and more. I asked my father about this and he told me: “That is just how we are raised, if you want to grow up and be respectful and be a God fearing person then you have to be raised in a strict manner”. So that is what it is, everything he kept repeating and saying had to do with God. What does religion have to do with anything? Obviously it has to do with everything because everything we were talking about all came down to Religion. Now I know what my next blog is going to be about.
If sentence structure was improved your blog could have a lot more impact. However, I could feel how strongly this topic impacted you growing up. I also grew up in a strict family but it was balanced with a lot of love. The strictness was not mean but gave me a structure, respect for others, and strong morals of right & wrong. God is important to me also but not to be feared. Unfortunately, you are correct that many cultures or parents use God as a threat. I think this will probably turn more people away.
ReplyDeleteStrict depends on the definition. What might be strict for you growing up could be lenient for others. Give us more specifics, please! Which cultures do you mean when you say Middle Eastern or Asian (there are dozens)--so the specifics here would help solidify your point. And, of course, I want to see more writing from you. This just scratches the surface of the issue! I also think the flow/structure (like PreslyJo suggests) could be enhanced, so as you add to your writing, think about what your audience would need to get a complete and tightly-packaged picture.
ReplyDeleteAnd what does religion have to do with it? I don't know, but I want you to tell me. It seems to be a lynch pin of rule-setting, right?
